Background: Ms. Bernier began her service at Walther in 2009. She serves as an instructor in the grade school music program at many of the area grade schools, assists the high school music instructors, coordinates the ILMEA district and state auditions for the high school, and conducts the pit orchestra for the musical performances.
Ms. Bernier attended Concordia University in River Forest, IL, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education (BME). She plans to finish her Master's Degree in Music Education (MME) at Arizona State University in the summer of 2018. Ms. Bernier is a member of several professional organizations including the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the Illinois Music Educator's Association (ILMEA).
Ms. Bernier is an active performer in the Chicago area, most notably as a member of the Prairie Brass Band of Arlington Heights, playing both trombone and percussion since 2009. She met her husband, Samuel Hildebrand, in the band. Julie and Samuel reside in Des Plaines with their cat, Pumpkin.
I believe music is for everyone regardless of previous experience or ability. Music is a gift from God, which Martin Luther called the greatest treasure in the world next to the Word of God. I hope to help every child find an instrument on which they can feel successful and on which they can praise our Lord and Savior.
