Background: Sue received the blessings of Lutheran education as a student from age three through college. At the age of seven, she decided to become a Lutheran school teacher, having been inspired by generations of Lutheran educators on both parents' sides of the family and also by the teachers of Mt. Olive Lutheran School, Milwaukee, WI. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree: major in Elementary Education and concentrations in Music and Art and a Master of Education degree: major in Elementary Education. She is a Commissioned Minister of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. College brought expanded opportunities to play the cello and sing in choirs. Sue is blessed with the support of her teaching by her husband and their two daughters.
Sue is grateful to have joined the Zion-Concord staff this year. She teaches the preschool three-year-olds. Sue has now taught three-year-olds through eighth graders. Her primary experience, strength, and interest are at the early childhood level. She believes education is a life-long experience and besides other areas has been an active participant in Chicagoland Lutheran Education Foundation, Northern IL District Early Childhood Network, and the James and Karen Laatsch Urban Teacher Program.
Teaching Philosophy: Sue believes that music greatly enhances learning, and therefore, she integrates music in learning throughout the day. She takes advantage of the benefits of brain-based learning. She values the growth of self-esteem in children as they grow in their knowledge of Jesus as their Savior.
